Reading Notes: Shah Abbas and the Poor Mother

This story focuses on a nice King trying to give back to the poor or doing a nice deed. In the middle of the story, it doesn’t go as he plans and actually goes downhill. I like stories that emphasizes on the wealthy giving back or just having sympathy towards the poor. I could change the setting of this story and add a more modern taste to it. Instead of the wealthy person being a King, I can change it to a celebrity. This celebrity could be giving back to the poor. The family could have been robbed because they live in an unsafe neighborhood. This could have brought burden to the family, whether it be a loss of a loved one or something important. The celebrity would soon find out and feel awful about it. I could also change the male character to a girl. I think it would be interesting to use a modern setting so we can realize that there are still some good people in this world even though media may not portray it. Stories like this could also influence others to give back. I enjoy happy endings so this would end with one.
