Reading Notes: Bengal-The Origin of Rubies

In this story, the young prince and his mother go on a voyage and they find rubies. The King demanded him to give the ruby to his daughter and in return the King will reward him. I like the details and the storyline. I think it would be interesting to change the young prince to a poor boy and his widow mother. I could also change the storyline and focus more on where the rubies came from, so I would give more of a background to the God in the ocean. Explain why and how the God was trapped. Also, I can add details about how the young boy saved her. After he saves her they fall in love. By continuing his promise to the King, they would send some rubies to the daughter of the King. After, they would run into issues about the poor boy not being able to live in the ocean with the God, but they eventually overcame some obstacles and they finally live happily ever after in the ocean. The King would also reward the boy by allowing his mother to live with them in their palace. Adding a fairy in this story would be a great addition to fulfill their wishes.
