Reading Notes: Rushen Coatie

The “Rushen Coatie” story is a Scottish version of Cinderella. Cinderella was my favorite Disney movie growing up so this fairy tale stuck out to me. While I was reading this story, I was really surprised how different it was. Although the story line was similar, it had different events. I noticed that there are several versions of Cinderella but I have never read them. Since more people know the Disney version, I could rewrite this story and keep the same events. I like how the Rushen Coatie(Cinderella) met the prince at a church and not a ball. Also, they encountered each other more than just one day. I could also add some different details to the story as well. I think it will be interesting to just read a different version of Cinderella.

Reading Notes: The Golden Ball

The “golden ball” is about two sisters who receive a golden ball each from a stranger. If they were to lose the golden balls then they would die. One sister lost her ball but her sweat heart said he would go get the ball because she was taken away to be hanged. I don’t really like how she was being punished for losing the golden ball so I could change that. I really like how in some Disney movies the princess gets locked up so I might use that. I also liked how she had a boyfriend that had to go through many life-threatening issues to get her golden ball back. Her boyfriend had to kill all of the giants and bogles that he encountered. I can change the events that he went through but still have him struggle. I will keep the ending the same. He then saves her and they will live happily ever after.
