Reading Notes: Water and Salt

Water and salt are essential things we need in life. Although they are not special, pretty, or worth a lot, we still use them every day. In this story, the father asks his three daughters how much they love him and one replied with, “I love you as much as water and salt.” He was not happy with it and demanded her dead. I liked how the sisters helped send her away and killed a dog in her place. At the end, the daughter ends up marrying a King’s son and invites her father to the wedding. They gave everyone salt and water except for her father. As they were eating, he did not enjoy his meal at all and could not eat. She finally told him who she was and he felt terrible.  I really like the message that this story sends. We sometimes forget how important small things in life are. I think we should be more grateful for the small things because they usually mean the most! I could write a story about two teenagers that worked really hard for their money and when they finally get money, one took advantage of it and spent it carelessly. At the end, he regrets his decisions and is unhappy. I want to keep the same lesson that is learned in my story.
